Dee Dee Stephens

Dee Dee is a first generation American, born to Caribbean parents and raised in San Jose, California. While attending UC Berkeley for her under graduate degree, she co- founded a production company, MaStep LLC, where she produced, directed, and hosted 2 programs: 'Dee Dee’s Blog Spot' & 'The Maleena Lawrence Show'. She also sang with the Grammy Award winning Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir.
She moved to Los Angeles because she got accepted to the masters in acting program at the University of Southern California. In 3 years, she went from having no formal actor training to having leading roles in 2 of the 3 repertory plays.
Since graduation, Dee Dee has continued her work on several projects both on stage and in front of the camera. She also performs stand-up comedy in LA and the Bay Area.
She acted in her 1st feature film entitled, 'My Name is Myeisha', that won the Audience Choice Award at its Slamdance Film Festival Premiere. She is also premiered her short film, 'Evil Begets Evil' at the Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.
When it comes to her work, her favorite quote comes from Paul Robeson:
